Summer had arrived in London in the weekend and gone…Literally.
If you think I am crazy to wear one day in Summer shorts, one day in Puffer, I am not, but London weather is! But it is ok, I am so used of this crazy weather already. As a very experienced “faux” Londoner for over 15 years, I have learnt to make the best use of very limited warm weather. In just a weekend, I had been to two parks and beautiful Primrose Hill. I had lots of ice cream and lots of yummy salads. Most importantly, I had 4 Summer outfits! And now I do sound crazy. 😛
My favourite kind of Summer outfit is not really about how much skin is showing. Growing up in 35+ degree city, I have learnt that exposing too much of your skin actually won’t make you cooler, instead you might get a sun burn. The best outfit for proper Summer weather is actually covering your top body up with super light poplin, cotton or linen in super loose and baggy shape. To our skin, wearing clothes in super baggy shape is like standing under the shadow. And in super light natural materials are much more breathable and airy. London is rarely so hot that you have to find the way to protect your skin or cool down. I had only experienced it once since I moved here. It was because of a special heat wave in 2003 as I remember. It is not at all usual for London. But I always love baggy style whether for its functionality or just simply love the laid back feel.
Anyway, here in this outfit, I was actually wearing a mini costume-y dress as a top, denim shorts, a pair of flatform espadrilles and my favourite straw bag.
One thing worth mentioning to me is the Dress/Top. It is everywhere now from all the brands. People just think it is some kind of resort wears from beach side like Morocco and etc. But if you are a fashion addict like me, I am sure you probably still remember people went crazy and queued to pay thousands pounds for them from Vita Kin in 2014/15. It is actually from Ukraine Costume originally. Thanks to her, this trend I love has been in fashion ever since. This style makes me feel like I am always on Summer Holiday! I wore it with all casual styles together for a super laid back park look. If you want, it goes beautifully with pleated skirt and heels for a trendy but yet formal city look too. Of course you will probably see me in this combo later!
Sorry that in this outfit, only the top is from Zara current season (here), the rest of things are old. But I have made a selection of similar items to share. Hope you like them.
And now I am going to wait for the next summer in London! Ciao! x
